History

UNC Charlotte’s Diversified Greek Council (DGC) was founded by the Alpha Lambda chapter of Chi Upsilon Sigma National Latin Sorority, Inc. and the Gamma Iota chapter of Lambda Theta Phi Latin Fraternity, Inc. in Fall 2009. The DGC is the supervising governing body for all multicultural Greek organizations, deriving from National Association of Latino Fraternal Organizations (NALFO), National Asian Pacific Islander American Pan-Hellenic Association (NAPA), National Multicultural Greek Council (NMGC), and organizations of Native American heritage. We aim to encourage scholastic achievement, leadership and community service among our members and to promote unity amongst the organizations within our council.

Mission

The mission of the Diversified Greek Council (DGC) at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte is to promote collaboration for the purpose of uniting Greek organizations under National Association of Latino Fraternal Organizations (NALFO), National Asian Pacific Islander American Pan-Hellenic Association (NAPA), and National Multicultural Greek Council (NMGC) on campus. Our council aims to serve the Latino, Asian, and overall multicultural communities. Each of our organizations celebrate and bring awareness to their unique cultures. However, they are not exclusive, and each of them welcome members of all backgrounds. Our council takes pride in our diversity and strives to develop leadership and achieve academic excellence among our members and other students in our campus community.

Recruitment

Each DGC fraternity and sorority brings in new members at various times of the year through a process called Membership Intake. Each organization has different requirements for membership, and each manages their own recruitment processes and have their own requirements to join. Students who want to join these organizations are encouraged to follow them on social media for upcoming events and information on rush and intake. Additionally, each organization is required to post a digital flyer on our office website to announce information about rush/intake. Current postings can be found here.
